Going above and beyond in your job search.
It’s been said that looking for a new employment opportunity can be as challenging as working at a full time job. You spend a good amount of time searching the job boards on-line, comparing opportunities, pay rates, work hours, and even locations.
But, it can get frustrating when you’ve spent all that time, filled out any number of applications, only to hear nothing back at all.
This month’s job search tip is to go above and beyond in your quest for a new opportunity; meaning that you should do a bit more research on the companies where you’ve applied, to include finding the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of human resource representatives and hiring managers at that company.
What you do from there is follow up with a quick, but professionally worded message highlighting your skills that match the job you applied for, and your interest in interviewing for the position.
You’d be amazed at how few job seekers actually do this, and how impressive it is for the company to actually hear from someone who’s pro-actively following up on an application!
